The Top 6 Best Hotels in Ravello Italy
Ravello is known as the city of music, because of its annual summer festival. The town is located just an hour south of Naples near the Amalfi Coast. The views of the coast are apparent from almost every part of the town. Boarding the coast is the Tyrrhenian Sea, with the beautiful blue water that feeds into the Mediterranean Sea. The town was founded in the 5th century and became an important maritime hub by the 9th century. Now, it serves as a popular tourist town with stunning sea views and historic architecture. Just under 30 minutes from the town is the famous Fiordo di Furore, known for its unbelievable cliffs, bridges, and beaches. As this is a beach town, summer is the most ideal time to visit. Most places in Ravello are closed for the winter. If you’re planning a trip to Italy in winter, Rome might be a better place for you. Without further interruption, let’s get into our list of the best hotels in Ravello Italy!
1. Hotel Marmorata
Courtesy of Hotel Marmorata
Ravello Art Hotel Marmorata is the only hotel on this list located outside Ravello’s center but I had to include it due to its amazing location right on the water. Hotel Marmorata is located in Marmorata, a hamlet of Ravello. Ravello’s main town is less than 0.4 miles or 0.6 kilometers from Hotel Marmorata. This 4-star hotel has sea views unlike any other hotel on this list, with the hotel backing onto the sea. Dine at the L’Antica Cartiera Restaurant, an Italian restaurant serving pasta and seafood dishes. The hotel has plenty to keep you entertained. A pool is located on the cliffs of the hotel with sun chairs, umbrellas, and a jacuzzi. Descend a bit further and you’ve reached the platform right on the water. Incredible views and even the option of taking a swim. There are five different styles of rooms to choose from, four of them facing the sea with balconies. All rooms include windows, separate rooms, a minibar, and a modern feel. Keep in mind that the hotel closes from late October to mid-April as the temperatures get cooler. The price ranges from $500-$1,000 per night which sounds high but might be a bargain considering what you’re getting.
2. Caruso, A Belmond Hotel, Amalfi Coast
Courtesy of Caruso, A Belmond Hotel, Amalfi Coast
Caruso is the definition of complete luxury, with a historic feel. This 5-star hotel was built in 1050! Don’t worry, the hotel has a modern feel to it due to its renovation in 2011. The hotel is in the heart of Ravello with the coast in view. Many activities are complementary through the hotel so you don’t have to pay extra to have fun. A shuttle runs from the hotel to the Amalfi Coast free of charge. From there, you can board the complimentary boat tour that sails just off the gorgeous Amalfi Coast. The views of the cliffs, beaches, and hills will make this day amazing.
The centerpiece of Caruso is the marvelous infinitely pool situated at the highest point in Ravello giving you unbelievable views. The hotel also boasts an astounding fitness center. You can find all the cardio and weight equipment you need with crazy views of the water below. The hotel includes three restaurants all serving exquisite foods that are sure to impress. You can also learn how to make pasta in the best place possible. Every room comes with a luxurious and historic but modern feel. You can get a terrace and garden in every room giving some outdoor space. The largest rooms have a full outdoor area with a patio, garden, and views of the Amalfi Coast. Just like Hotel Marmorata, Caruso closes for the winter between late October and late March. Finding a room under $1,000 a night in this hotel is almost impossible. You’ll probably spend around $2,000 a night with prices going all the way up to $10,000 a night for the signature suites.
3. Garden Hotel Ristorante

The Garden Hotel Ristorante is a more affordable hotel and is perfect for people who want that Amalfi Coast experience without breaking the budget. The hotel is also located in the heart of Ravello just down the road from Caruso. The views are equally as good with the sea in sight as well as the cliffs and hills. Although not an infinity pool, the pool still has great views along with sun beds, chairs, umbrellas, and a lower patio to further enjoy the views. The hotel has one restaurant and one bar, the bar also serves light snacks. The restaurant serves a variety of seafood, pasta, and meats. Breakfast is also available every day from 7:30 am to 10:00 am. There are three room types ranging from 183 square feet or 17 square meters to 205 square feet or 19 square meters. Two of the three room types get sea views while the one left out gets mountain views. All rooms come with a balcony, minibar, television, and tiled or marble flooring. Just like all the other hotels, booking between November and March isn’t an option as the hotel closes for the winter. The price at the Garden Hotel Ristorante varies from $300 to $500 per night. This is a steal when considering the area and what you’re getting, there’s not much that can compete with these prices.
4. Palazzo Avino

Staying in Palazzo Avino will feel similar to staying in a palace, with the structure getting built in the 12th century. People have been living in this place since the middle ages, and the hotel has done a fantastic job of preserving some of that history. This hotel is just a building away from Caruso, both 5-star hotels. The hotel sits over 350 meters or 1,000 feet above the sea giving you incredible views. Outdoor areas are plenty with multiple levels. A 20-meter or 65-foot heated swimming pool is located in the hotel’s garden giving stunning views of the mountains and sea. There is a second pool located on the rooftop of the Palazzo Avino. The pool is smaller but is a hydro-pool and has better views.
The rooftop also has sitting areas, perfect for relaxing and watching a sunset. An outdoor fitness center is located at the hotel’s lower platform with a wide range of cardio and weight equipment. There is also a clubhouse situated right on the water and is complimentary for hotel guests. Transportation is available to the clubhouse free of charge. Here, you can take a swim in the sea, relax by the water, or swim in the pool right next to the sea. The hotel has 6 places to eat or drink with all providing a unique experience. You can find everything at these restaurants including cheeses, lobster, pasta dishes, wines, and baked goods. The rooms range from 180 square feet or 17 square meters to over 1,000 square feet or 100 square meters. More than half of the rooms have some sort of balcony and most face the sea. Just like all the other hotels, this hotel is closed for the winter. Staying at this hotel isn’t cheap, with the minimum being $1,500 a night. Getting a suite here will set you back over $6,000 a night. If these types of prices are affordable to you, go for it as this hotel has so much to offer.
5. Hotel Toro
Courtesy of Hotel Toro
Hotel Toro is the most affordable hotel on this list and is located right in the heart of Ravello. The biggest sacrifice you’ll have to make is the amenities as virtually none exist at this hotel. This hotel primarily serves the basics rather than an all-inclusive luxurious experience. Hotel Toro is just steps away from the main square, with several restaurants and shops nearby. Some hotels have activities included but this is not one of them. You’ll need to plan and book activities yourself so keep that in mind. Hotel Toro was built in the 1800s and opened as a hotel. The rooms are equipped with the basics and not much more. The main reason you’d stay here is because of the price which we’ll get to later. Even Hotel Toro is closed for winter just like all the other hotels on this list. It’s not uncommon to find a room here for under $200 a night which makes Hotel Toro the cheapest hotel on this list. I could find another hotel cheaper than this without sacrificing quality. This allows you to spend time and money on the activities you want to do rather than the hotel. If you’re just using a hotel as a place to sleep for the night, this hotel will be perfect for you. People on a tight budget will also appreciate this place as the location is excellent.
6. Villa Piedimonte
Courtesy of Villa Piedimonte
The views can’t get much better than this. Villa Piedimonte is located a bit east of Ravello’s center but still in the town. The hotel opened in 2015 and was converted from a 12th-century villa. An outdoor feel is vibrant throughout the hotel with greenery apparent. A botanical garden is located on the terrace, providing more greenery. The hotel is on a slope with unobstructed views of the valley below and the Amalfi Coast. Plenty of outdoor balconies and walkways are located in the hotel with the focus being on the outdoors. Makes sense as the weather is so good in summer. The centerpiece of this place is the pool deck with a stunning pool and relaxing areas around it. There is a bistro room with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are 10 styles of rooms to choose from that range in size, view, and features. Most have private balconies and all have views of either the mountains or sea. This hotel is also closed during the winter, meaning that all six hotels on this list are closed for the colder months. With all you’re getting in Villa Piedimonte, I expected the prices to be close to $1,000 a night, I couldn’t have been more wrong. You can find a room here for under $400 a night and a suite for under $500 a night, which is a steal considering all that you’re getting. If I were to stay in one of these hotels, this is the one I’d choose.
Conclusion
There you have it, six of the best hotels in Ravello Italy, all in one list! All six of these hotels offer crazy fun experiences and amazing memories. The hotel that spoke to me the most was the Villa Piedimonte, but you’re most likely going to have a different opinion depending on what you’re looking for. I hope this list helped you find your favorite hotel in Ravello Italy, enjoy your travels!
