Emeryville Marina Guide

Emeryville Marina Guide

Emeryville Marina is a fantastic place to visit and sail from. On the east side of the San Francisco – Oakland Bay Bridge, the marina provides excellent views of San Francisco and Oakland. We’ll go through everything you need to know about Emeryville Marina including sailing, boat rentals, and how to get here.

Emeryville Marina Park

Along the western end of the Emeryville Marina is the Emeryville Marina Park. The Marina Park Pathway circles the perimeter of this park and gives great bay views. You’ll see the Golden Gate Bridge, Berkeley Hills, San Francisco, and Oakland from here. On a day when the weather is good, this can be a great hangout spot.

Getting to Emeryville Marina

Emeryville Marina is quite connected, meaning there are many ways to get here. Driving is the easiest way to get here as there is ample parking at the marina.

There is a train station near the marina but this is an Amtrak station, meaning you can’t take a train here from San Francisco. The nearest BART station is 2.5 miles east of the Marina and can be up to an hour’s walk. Several buses connect to Emeryville Marina from the Salesforce Transit Center including Line J: Sacramento and Line F: Adeline.

Although the bay area is quite bike-friendly, crossing the bay on a bike is nearly impossible. The only way you could possibly bike is by taking a ferry across the bay and biking the rest, be ready for a 2+ hour journey.

Sailing At Emeryville Marina

The marina at Emeryville is huge, with space for 381 boats. The northern portion of the marina is full of boats that get views over the beautiful San Francisco Bay. Docking here is ideal as you’re central to many of San Francisco’s most famous landmarks.

Boats here can have a maximum length of 80 feet with no height restriction. Fueling pumps are available 24/7 here along with drive-up parking.

Boat Rentals

Chartering a boat is possible from Emeryville Marina and there are two companies to choose from. Fish Emeryville is a charter company focused on fishing, where you can catch fish directly from the San Francisco Bay. They also have history tours and private events.

Freedom Boat Club is your second option, a very different type of experience. Charting a boat from here requires a club membership. From there, you get access to over 400 charter locations nationwide in exchange for a monthly fee.

Overall

Emeryville Marina is a great place for views and a wonderful spot to catch a boat. I hope this covered everything you need to know about the marina.
